Oban Drive
The Association acquired this site, previously occupied by North Kelvinside Secondary School, from the City Council in March 2006. As a result of the high value of the site due to its location close to the West End, the Association has been required to incorporate housing for outright sale as part of its proposals. After a joint procurement exercise with 2 other Housing Associations which had acquired similarly high value sites, the Association selected McTaggart Construction as its preferred developer, with its subsidiary Laurel Homes to deliver the private housing for sale.
The design proposals for the site will provide a total of 128 predominately flatted units. On Oban Drive itself, 3no. 6-storey blocks will be built, each providing 24 flats with lift access. The first of these blocks will be marketed for Shared Equity by the Association, while the remaining 2 blocks will be sold privately by Laurel Homes.

The remainder of the site, accessed off Queen Margaret Drive by Kelvinside Avenue, will be developed for housing for rent. 46 properties will be built in 5no. 4-storey tenement closes, providing a range of 1, 2 & 3 bedroom flats, while 10 terrace houses will provide 3 and 4 bedroom further family accommodation.
The site provides 100% off-street car parking, accessed for all properties from Kelvinside Avenue as well as easy access to good transport links and local amenities. The site has proved problematic to develop for a number of reasons which is why work did not start until May 2011. Completions are anticipated towards the end of 2012.
