Second Stage Transfer
The tenants of Hamiltonhill have said YES to Queens Cross Housing Association.
The stock transfer ballot conducted by Glasgow Housing Association resulted in 84% of tenants voting YES to Queens Cross becoming their new landlord. Queens Cross Housing Association’s Chief Executive, Frank McCabe said “this is the positive mandate we needed to take on the management of Hamiltonhill and we aim to provide a first class service to all tenants and owners from the date of transfer”.
The ballot of tenants followed two phases of consultation. Stage 1 was a formal consultation which lasted 28 days and gave tenants the opportunity to comment on the transfer proposal. Stage 2 advised tenants of any changes made to the original proposal as a result of comments made. The ballot was conducted independently by Electoral Reform Services and ran for 21 days from 25th November 2009 and closed on 16th December 2009.
Queens Cross Housing Association have been supported by the Local Housing Organisation, a committee of local residents. The Chairperson, Margaret Dillon said “We have been working with Queens Cross for over 8 years to achieve stock transfer. I am delighted that the tenants finally got the opportunity to vote and have supported Queens Cross overwhelming”.
These sentiments were echoed by Charlie Radcliffe who said “Queens Cross have an excellent reputation in management and delivery of a housing service. Even more importantly they are committed to the community and provide additional services such as welfare rights, money and debt advice, youth work and volunteering. All of which will benefit Hamiltonhill”.
The actual stock transfer date has been set for 28 March 2010.
