Supported Accommodation

Over recent years, the Association has developed a number of supported accommodation projects, both to provide new facilities and also to remodel existing provision to meet ever increasing National Care Standards.

840 Garscube Road Development of this new build completed in December 2008 to provide a supported accommodation project in conjunction with Glasgow Homelessness Partnership and Turning Point Scotland.  This development, in the form of a single tenement close, provides 5 one bedroom flats and 5 en-suite bedsits for residents, together with extensive support and communal facilities.

As well as a communal lounge and dining facilities, residents also have use of a number of groupwork rooms and a treatment room.  Staff provision includes office facilities and a sleepover en-suite bedsit.

26 Springbank Street The extension of the end terrace house at 26 Springbank Street was completed in December 2008 to provide a 5 bedroom supported facility for the frail elderly.  This facility is linked to the Association’s existing project, managed by The Mungo Foundation, and located across the road at 19 Springbank Street.

The additional accommodation allows the existing provision to meet current National Care Standards, while providing an additional bedspace to assist in the project’s long-term viability.  The extension also resolved the issue of a small neglected gap site immediately adjacent to the ‘A’ listed Queens Cross Church. 

494 Great Western Road These 2 tenements on Great Western Road were originally refurbished by the Association as supported accommodation for the Talbot Association in 1992.  National Care Standards required that the property had to be internally up-graded and this work was completed in September 2007.

23 bedspaces, generally sharing communal bathroom facilities, were re-modelled to provide 3 1-bedroom flats and 14 en-suite bedsits.  As part of the re-design, the communal lounge was relocated to take advantage of the southerly aspects and a new commercial kitchen was also installed.
